Lots of threads, no time to read them all? Here is today's MouseHunt news, highlights, and gossip! Read on:
SECTION ONE
THIS JUST IN!Clocks everywhere in the world went haywire today! (well, okay, not everywhere - mainly in North America, but since North America contains HitGrab HQ and HitGrab HQ contains our beloved game, it really affected most of us...)
So, if you didn't know by now, this is directly the result of
Daylight Savings, a phenomenon where our clocks get set forward an hour in the spring and back an hour in the fall, which supposedly gives people more sunlight during their waking hours and keeps them happier. I can attest, though, that where I live, it achieves exactly the opposite, and confuses everyone to boot (although the extra hour of sleep is shweet!).
Yes, we know that MouseHunters really like to know what time it is. We know your clocks don't work that way. But ours do. So... Well, deal with it.
So, yeah. Extra trap check - Check. Moving on...
TICK, TOCK, TICKER:Hollowhead mice are running rampant, playing tricks and scaring hunters across the Kingdom!Yes, yes, we know that! Some hunters are already tired of them (witnessed here) while others can't get enough. We don't know just how long they're going to stay (or, heck, they could already be gone by the time this gets published), but if you really, REALLY want a Hollowhead to fill in that silhouette before NEXT YEAR, visit one of the following:
-Town of Gnawnia
-Harbour
-Bazaar
-Great Gnarled Tree <- Unreliable eyewitnesses peg this location as the best!
-Training Grounds
-SS Huntington II
-Cape Clawed
(Yes, it appears that they are spreading - the Town location was unknown to Nibbler staff to contain the pumpkin men until now)
The population of Hollowhead mice is at an all time high! Double your efforts hunters! As evidenced in this thread, some people are catching a LOT of Hollowheads the last day or two. Some are even catching many in a row, like seen here. Jealous? We didn't think so. Or maybe we did. Aw, heck, whatever.
Ronza has announced that she plans to leave early next week. Visit her shop before she leaves!Oh noes! Cue the running rampant on the streets! Scream like a chicken with its head cut off! Smash things!
Yes, our favorite on-again, off-again-then-never-seen-for-months-later-so-why-the-heck-do-we-still-put-up-with-her relationship is about to be off again. Ronza will be departing, and the best guess, based on the ticker ("Early next week" seems to indicate sometime before Wednesday, which is hump-day and clearly the middle of the week) and Dave's initial announcement ("at least two weeks" means that the earliest she will leave is Tuesday) is that sometime on Tuesday, dev time (EST, GMT-5), Ronza will hoist up those anchors and fly away, leaving a smattering of Rockstars behind, of course.
So, yes. While we THINK you'll be safe in saving your shopping until sometime late on Monday, you cannot trust our word for it. So if there's a trap that you really, really wanted and you are in a position to get it, don't delay.
(A Nibbler note: Please only smash things with the Hunter's Hammer...)
How Much Rockforth do YOU have?Spotted recently, intrepid baron
Vernon Hsu is hunting with (currently) 711 pieces of Rockforth cheese. Now that's a lot of cheese!
And while he may (or may not) have enough time to claim as many Rockstars as possible while they remain, he sure cleaned up on the FREE cheese!
PS: Collectors, I'm sure you know, but don't use that last piece of Rockforth if you like how it looks in your inventory - you don't know if this cheese will ever get a reissue!Last-minute Compy Goodness
With Ronza leaving soon and some people still wanting more, more, MORE gold, the Nibbler figured we should highlight a few competitions that could net you some gold, pronto!
Emma Rankmore has been busy with her story competitions lately! The first one is for Novices and Apprentices only, and it's really rockin'! Visit this thread. The second one is for all MouseHunters, and it's much spookier... For that one, see this thread. Both of them end very soon, so hop to it and write an original story for her! Plenty of gold and SB+ is up for grabs in either.
Continuing with the creative theme, some punk with a jack-o-lantern avatar is hosting a Ronza-themed limerick contest, and it's got hefty prizes designed specifically for those searching for a Ronza trap. So if you're friends with that guy from Nantucket, go and scope out the thread, you can see it here.
Help celebrate Danielle Hall's MH birthday by posting in her thread, and she'll award some stinky cheese to a few lucky hunters. Sound good? Then head on down.
Of course, there's always many, many more competitions happening every day. To see them all, just browse through the Events and Competitions board!
Tournament Buzz
Barbara Sosodeva kindly points out (here) that team Juggernauts is the first Hunting Party to surpass the 1 million Party points barrier (and for the tournament uninitiated, that's quite a lot). Congrats, team Juggernauts!
So, just how do you get so many Party points? Well...
- Hunt. A lot.
- Participate in tournaments. A lot.
- Score lots of points in most (preferably all) of those tournaments.
- Choose tournaments that offer lots and lots of points. I believe the longer ones are best for this.
- Lather, rinse, repeat.
The Nibbler Presents: The Snickerdoodle Brigade!Don't know what a Snickerdoodle is? Oh noes! Well, to quote
Wikipedia:
A snickerdoodle is a type of sugar cookie made with cream of tartar and rolled in cinnamon sugar. [...] Some people mistakenly refer to snickerdoodles as "sugar cookies". The difference between the two comes from the use of cinnamon, which is balanced with cream of tartar to give the cookies their sweet, spicy flavor.
They also happen to be the favorite cookie of MouseHunter and Nibbler editor Michael Hilliard, and why not! They sound delicious, don't they?
Aaaanyways... Upon seeing
a recent thread that preached that any advice is good advice, no matter the source, I thought "Yes! Perfect!" But why not take it a little further still? What about those folks that get chastised for posting a question, even before they're given a helping hand in finding the answer? Or the ones that have something that they think is interesting (like a series of successive catches), even if many others have seen things like it before, and get belittled for it?
The Snickerdoodle Brigade is all about bringing a little bit of peace, understanding, and yummy, yummy cookies to the boards. Volunteers are appreciated! Nothing special is needed to sign up, just do the following - If you notice that a thread is getting too flamey, too trollish, too dark or too bland - spice it up with a snickerdoodle by saying:
Whoa, fellow MouseHunters! Relax! Here, have a Snickerdoodle:
http://whatscookingamerica.net/Cookie/Snickerdoodle.htm
It will also help if you tell anyone who asks you why you posted that the truth: you didn't think the conversation was going well and you want to help change it. So give a cookie, and then help the thread along, with an answer, an encouragement, a witty analogy, whatever!
If you have questions about the Brigade or would like to comment on it, please respond in today's comment section or PM Dane Koster.
Quote of the DayWhile there's a great many quotes that COULD be chosen from the thread "All Beggars, post here!" there is one in particular that really speaks to me. One that makes me question whether some MouseHunters really do have ESPN... And that's when Alex Cheah said:
here's a cookie!
Thanks, Alex!
Here's some for you, too!
So far, so good... And don't forget to sound the horn!
"Chin up Cheese out"
Dream Interpretation with DR RAGSAnonymouse sent me this dream:I was on a campsite, with many tents and bizarre looking hangouts around.I was amazedly wandering through the messy arrangements and watching to not trip over lines and stuff.when an announcement came over the speakers... the voice sounded very familiar... and yes i recognized the voice: being my big mousehunter-friend mr. x.I was glad he was coming to camp as well... and then he asked for all our special attention. he said: "i am here with a beautiful lady, and i want to ask 'xx': will you marry me?"Then kind of a mass hysteria broke out, because everybody who had heard broke into an applause or scream of enthusiasm and we never got to hear her answer! I ran for the camp-entrance or reception of sorts, to go and greet my friend, but all the traps and mousehunters and piles of chees got in the way: teddys appearing before me suddenly, half-eaten Ronza burgers rolling before my feet, rucksacks and satchels curiously got stuck around my legs and i fell....and fell.......and woke up :?- help! -Dearest Anonymouse ,
Let's explore your dream as this has many different aspects in it.
First we will decipher the dreams messages using an ancient technique discovered by archaeologists while in Tibet. They found this archaic method in a scroll retrieved from the frozen hands of a dead alien monk.
There seems to be clutter prevalent most so lets go there first: This symbolizes the state of your waking life. You need to get your life in order.
The tents seem to represent that there is no settlement in your life where as being IN a tent would mean more along a rut of a sort and desire for change.
Camp on the other hand refers to your social circle and support group. You are looking for a sense of belonging, but at the same time be self-sufficient and independent
Voices: To hear voices in your dream, signifies a message from the unconscious or spiritual realm.
Friend
To see friends in your dream, signifies aspects of your personality that you have rejected, but are ready to incorporate and acknowledge these rejected aspects of yourself. The relationships you have with those around you are important in learning about yourself.
The announcement of your friends engagement to "an unknown" person would appear to Friend signify aspects of your personality that you have rejected, but are ready to incorporate and acknowledge these rejected aspects of yourself. The relationships you have with those around you are important in learning about yourself.
Then end of your dream as falling (followed by falling) which is common and typically causes a jerking action is part of an arousal mechanism that allows the sleeper to awaken and become quickly alert and responsive to possible threats in the environment. Hence, THE END>
But it also signifies an indication of insecurities, instabilities, and anxieties.
THE MSG:
You feel as if the real life state of affairs are in a disarray. Perhaps a feeling of just "spinning your wheels" and you feel that on the inside you are ready to settle down. Perhaps feelings of wanting to get engaged? There is no indication of anyone "special" currently in your life (as the persons name was "censored") but it seems to indicate that you don't feel like your life is able to to "fit" a serious commitment. You want it and feel that you might be ready but there's something blocking you from letting go. Is it stressing you out a little?
I suggest making cocoa with the little tiny marshmallows. I like it that way. Feel free to make yourself some too.
Hope this helps!
Thanks!
As Always, "Chin up, Cheese Out"

SECTION THREE
The POST CARD ASSAULT on Hit Grab HQ ContinuesCome on and join the fun! Dozens of Hunters have already found their postcards and shipped them off to the devs to show their support for the game they love to play and then come complain on the forums about when things don't go their way. That's right, it's MouseHunt! And hey, what better way to tell Jacob about your secret crush on him than by attaching it to a postcard of Pamplona's running of the bulls?
Send your postcard to HitGrab Lab's current address at
2nd Floor, 2552 Bristol Circle, Oakville, Ontario, Canada, L6H 5S1. We players can obviously have a lot of fun and be creative with this idea and the Devs will enjoy all the post cards. Just think what a couple hundred thousand monthly users from 180 countries and 6 continents can do,
ay eh?Let's bury them. I want to see trees falling due to increase in postcards!
Come on people. Post a comment if you're going to be sending or have sent a card! Let's see what the tally is going to look like.
The Nibbler remains a wholly independent MouseHunt daily news e-publication. Throughout the day, our reporters scour through all the discussion boards, as we are dedicated to bringing the noteworthy news, highlights and gossip of the day to you, the hunters.
